Frequently Asked QuestionsI'm going to the bathroom every day. Isn't my colon already clean, why should I cleanse?
The average American has between 5 and 15lbs. of purified bacteria and waste stored in the intestinal tract. The goal of colon hydrotherapy and cleansing is not only to increase regularity but to remove buildup that has accumulated over time robbing your body from proper assimilation and vibrant health. Every car eventually needs an oil change to combat daily wear and tear, so does your body. Is a colonic dangerous? Painful? Embarrassing? Colon hydrotherapy is non-invasive. It is a gentle procedure that introduces purified water into a body that is 70% water itself. The equipment that we use is state of the art, FDA registered, self-sanitizing and all of the items that touch the human body are one-time use disposables. The process is very safe, gentle and comfortable. You remain covered and an expert therapist remains with you throughout the entire session. Ensuring your comfort and maintaining your dignity are our highest priorities. Unlike enemas or laxatives, colon hydrotherapy actually tones and trains the intestine; So the therapy is quite the opposite of habit forming. After water fills the colon, peristalsis is stimulated and your muscle begins to contract moving the water and waste out. This is similar to going to the gym to lift weights...as the muscle gets stronger the body is more efficient and relies less on the therapy to achieve results. How will I feel afterward? May I return to work? Although results vary, most people (more than 80%) feel immediately lighter, more energetic and completely clean. Many people stop in on their lunch break for a colonic and return to work directly. Usually after having great results during the session it may be 24 hrs or more before the next bowel movement because the colon is empty. The remainder of the time others may have an increase in movement. This happens most often after the 1st colonic and especially if the client has been very constipated. This is a sign that one session shifted material in the bowel but this person is an excellent candidate for a prompt follow up to finish the release process. Will I be able to exercise the day of my colonic? Light exercise is very common after a cleanse, but it is important to take the time you need to eat and replenish the body after a cleanse and before any rigorous activity. Do Colonics deplete the good bacteria in the bowel? Friendly flora or good bacteria is a result of an ideal setting for it to grow and flourish. An abundance of bad bacteria, built up toxicity and petrified waste make it impossible for friendly bacteria to grow and reside in the gut. Colonics aid the body in eliminating these poisons, in addition, replacing all good bacteria through a probiotic additive or drink. The result is a re-population of healthy Bacteria and an atmosphere that supports its continued presence. I started my monthly cycle, should I cancel my appointment? Because the body is already in a natural state of cleansing, a woman's cycle is an ideal time to come in. Most women find that they release even more and also claim that the process helps to alleviate the cramping, bloating, gas, headache, constipation and irritability that may accompany menses. My Doctor is against me having a colonic. Why? As colonics, and holistic health across the board has experienced a resurgence, many in western medicine remain unconvinced of its place. Proudly, Living Legacy Wellness Center has amongst it's clients many Medical Doctors, Nurses and other members of the Allopathic Medical Community that believe strongly in the therapies that we offer and have become some of our best proponents. We receive regular referrals from Gastroenterologists and continue to build a very successful working relationship that allows us to complement the recommendations of our clients doctor and help achieve a well-rounded approach to prevention and wellness. How many colonics does one need and how often should they be done? Our therapists are happy to discuss this with you during your first session or in a wellness consultation. This answer depends greatly on your health history, your regular diet, the amount of cleansing that you have done in the past and of course, the goals that you have in mind. Most people who have not done an intestinal cleanse in the past choose to do at least 3 to 5 sessions spaced appropriately to fit their lifestyle in order to understand what the therapy can achieve in regard to balance, regularity and a client's individual goals for improved health. |
